27. – 30. June 2024
Štrigova Culture Center, Church of St. Jerome, State Archives for Međimurje in Štrigova, Museum of Međimurje in Čakovec

Štrigova Art Colony has taken an important place in the schedule of cultural and artistic events in Međimurje County, and the image that this four-day event nurtures arouses an increasingly intense interest of the audience in visual and musical arts. The programs of the colony are held in unique indoor and outdoor spaces, such as the famous Church of St. Jerome in Štrigova with beautiful Ranger frescoes and a baroque organ from 1734, the parish church of St. Mary Magdalene in Štrigova, the Dragon Garden in Železna Gora and the newly built, modern Štrigova Cultural Center. The colony covers the wider area of Međimurje County, so the exhibitions are held in the exhibition hall of the Museum of Međimurje in Čakovec, which, after the art nouveau building of the House of Trade Unions and the Šajer building, took over the role of hosting the colony in Čakovec.

Recognized by the public and the local administration, the colony has become an indispensable part of Međimurje’s cultural offer over the years, and has been proclaimed in the media as Međimurje’s fortress of musical and artistic culture. Thanks to the persistent efforts of the organizing team and the great support of the Municipality of Štrigova, which stood behind the event a few years ago, and with the long-term financial support of the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, the Art Colony of Štrigova is organized every year at the end of June, at the beginning of July. Every year, the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia takes over the costs of performers with financial support through a Public Call for proposing public needs in the culture of the Republic of Croatia, to which the Štrigova Tourism Board regularly applies as a co-organizer.
